Aphantasia is a condition of human existence where one cannot conjure pictures in their mind. It’s also known as image-free thinking and affects ~2% of people.
Aphantasia exists in a spectrum, and ranges from absolute nothingness to the opposite diagnosis, Hyperphantasia, which is the ability to create extra-vivid mental images.
It’s important to note that Aphantasia is not a defect, disorder, or disability; and it is not a lack of imagination.
Ai-generated Art can help those with Aphantasia by giving the imagination a starting point, or reference. As well as invoke emotion from the images for everyone.
